In 1968 a major addition opened, what is now the main part of the building. By that time it housed grades K-5, and was named H. T. Smith Elementary School for a former superintendent. A small addition was done in 1992. H. T. Smith Elementary now houses Kindergarten, First Grade, and some of the district's Second Grade classes.
