The Rainbow was built by Clarence A. "Jack" Grimm in 1935. It was a diesel sternwheeler, with a wood hull and was 63.3 x 16 x 1.8, powered by a Cooper-Bessemer Diesel putting out 80-100 hp. In late 1939 her engines were swapped with the engines of the Edna, increasing the Rainbow's horsepower to 120. Uncle Jack operated the boat until he sold her to Iron City Sand & Gravel Corp. in Pittsburgh in July, 1941. They bought it to replace their Poppy, which had been lost in a flash flood. She was dismantled in 1956.
