Lysa Ann

The Lysa Ann was a diesel towboat with steel hull and twin props. It was built in Cape Girardeau, MO in 1928 with a wood hull, and was completely rebuilt and steel hull placed at Omaha, NE in 1949. It was originally named Jackie, and had Holt gas engines, then Gray Marines, and by 1950 it had two Murphy diesels rated at 165 hp each. It was rebuilt and repowered by St. Louis Shipbuilding & Steel Co. in 1950, and measured 60 x 20 x 5. In 1950 it was owned by Omaha Dredge & Dock Co., Omaha, NE. It was sold in March 1952 to Cincinnati Marine Service, Inc., Cincinnati, who renamed her J. L. Beatty in march, 1953. Caterpillar diesels totaling 675 hp were placed in November 1958. She was sold in June 1963 to Columbia Marine Service, Inc., Cincinnati, who renamed her John K. In 1973 she was owned by Inland Waterways Service, Covington, KY. At some point one of my dad's brothers, Ron Grimm, of McKees Rocks, PA bought her. By then she was the Lysa Ann.
