She sank after the fire department loaded her down with water putting out the fire. The white rectangle on the port tow knee is the paper put there by the fire department, claiming her as salvage. The fire occurred on the Ohio at Beaver, PA. The Gateway was rebuilt by Dravo and eventually ended up in Venezuela.
