Ohio Veterans Medal awarded posthumously to Armstrong Grim, brother of Thomas Grim, Jr.
The Ohio Veterans Medals were issued by the state of Ohio, and struck by Tiffany & Company of New York. They were issued to volunteer soldiers who completed their tour of duty in the Civil War and then signed up for further duty. The medals were apparently issued in the summer of 1866 and are engraved with the soldier's name and unit.
The photo of this medal was provided by Fred Schultz, a great-great nephew of Armstrong. It is in the possession of his first cousin, Linda Seiter, a great-great niece of Armstrong.
