Capt. Samuel Grim was the son of Armstrong Grim and Mary Ann Scott, and the grandson of Adam Grim and Hannah Syphers. Lydia J. "Liddie" Goodwin was the daughter of A. J. Goodwin and Eliza A. Sargent.
