Reece was born circa 1834 and died August 19, 1864 in Annapolis, Maryland. He married Clarissa Grim, the oldest daughter of Levi Grim and Barbara Knisely. He was the paternal grandfather of Pittsburgh Pirates great, Arley Wilbur Cooper.

Borland Hotel

The Borland Hotel was built in 1908 by John Wilbur Grimm, son of Hailman Grim and grandson of Levi Grim. It was on a 240 acre property straddling Wood and Pleasants Counties. The inn had 65 guest rooms and a dining room that could accommodate 90 guests. People came from all over to “take the cure” of the mineral springs. Grimm sold the hotel in 1932.
