Mastodons to Manufacturers: A History of Fowlerville, Michigan takes the reader back to a time before humans lived in Michigan. It reveals the early people who made their home in the area, and follows the early settlers who arrived here in 1836. From there it traces the growth of Handy Township and Fowlerville from settlements with less than two dozen people to the plank road, the arrival of the railroad, and the devastating fires of the late 1800s and early 1900s. The book also includes the most comprehensive photographic record ever published of the 1909 cyclone which struck Fowlerville. A complete history of Fowlerville Community Schools and the surrounding country schools is presented. Included are more than 400 photographs and illustrations, plus more than twenty maps.
